Slim Jim Blues

Travelling the back roads of the blues

Slim Jim Blues

Slim Jim blues give you stripped down dirty blues, hill country style. Slim Williams, 2bad Jim & TJ Harpenstein tear up the blues with guitar, drums and harmonica to make a relentless red blooded boogie. 2badJim Lambert plays electric and cigar box guitar, Slim Williams plays a packing case, steel pipe and jungle drums and TJ Harpenstein blows through a box of harps and cane flutes.

They learned their craft supporting Kenny Brown, T Model Ford, Ian Siegal and more. The band play delta classics stripped and a few original songs. There’s murder, field holler, chain gang and green-eyed vengeance all wrapped up in a beat that’s retro and new. Slim Jim make a big noise out of something that’s as old as blues, and current as dirty rock and roll. It’s the type of blues that’s been around in the Mississippi hills since Robert Johnson died, and you can still hear today if you go down to Mississippi on a Friday night.

It’s trad and it’s hip. It’s hot and it’s raucous and it’s cool.

It’s the music of John Lee Hooker, RL Burnside, Jack White, and the Black Keys. Turn on to the black hearted blues of SlimJim.
