We are very excited to announce our new EP Howlin for the wolf. The EP is available on Spotify and all other major online distributors and can be downloaded right now!
In Howlin for the Wolf we play our respects to the amazing Chester Burnett, a man who strode the Chicago blues scene like a literal colossus. We’ve written in the past on this site about our love for the Wolf, but we couldn’t leave it at that, so we’ve recorded a five track EP of wolfish songs for your pleasure and amusement.
- Spoonful. The EP kicks off with mournful harp blowing out the riff from Spoonful. It could be a spoonful of coffee, could be a spoon full of tea. It could be many things but all of them speak to cravings and desires unfulfilled.
- The red rooster. Animal songs are critical to the blues. But, while this song features a whole barnyard of animals, the rooster himself is long gone, leaving everyone bereft.
- Smokestack lightning. If you like animal songs, you are going to love train songs. In this one we howl at the moon about an unfaithful girlfriend who has been treating us wrong. Stop your train and let a poor boy ride. But, it seems she didn’t…
- No place to go (Wreck my life). Things are not going well in the Wolf household it seems. Through the pounding drums and hypnotic riff you can hear the plaintiff cry of an old man, long past his prime, being thrown out of his home. She’s got a young stud and she don’t need him no more.
- Commit a crime. Finally we offer you an intense version of Commit a crime floating on a jagged guitar riff. Once more we are in the tail end of a relationships and once more people are behaving badly. You put poison in my coffee, I better leave before I commit a crime. Something is going to go very wrong here, but who will be left standing.
Listen and enjoy and tell us what you think!
